With the new space, the Animal Nutrition division will extend its offerings of raw materials and specialised ingredients to the ruminant, swine, pet food, and aquaculture markets.
SOUTH AFRICA – Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), the U.S.-based global nutrition leader, has announced the expansion of its office space in Johannesburg, South Africa, marking another significant step in its growing African footprint.
The new facility will provide essential support for the company’s Human and Animal Nutrition teams as ADM continues to scale operations across the continent.
Unveiled on April 19, the expanded Johannesburg office is designed to strengthen ADM’s capabilities in delivering innovative nutrition solutions across key sectors, including food, beverage, and animal feed.
The additional space will enable teams to better serve customers by enhancing local responsiveness and collaboration across the region.
“As our activities continue to grow, the need for additional space has become essential to support our expanding operation,” said Mark Kropp, President of Animal Nutrition EMEA and Regional President Africa. “I am proud to open this office and celebrate the milestone.”
ADM’s Human Nutrition team will use the space to continue developing customised flavour solutions for the beverage, food, and savoury sectors.
At the same time, the Animal Nutrition division will extend its offerings of raw materials and specialised ingredients to the ruminant, swine, pet food, and aquaculture markets.
Warren de Souza, General Manager of ADM South Africa, emphasised the company’s commitment to Africa. “We’re excited about our continued expansion in this vibrant and diverse market. Congratulations to the entire team on reaching this important milestone.”
New facility in Nigeria
The Johannesburg expansion is part of ADM’s broader strategy to establish a stronger presence across Africa.
Most recently, ADM opened a new facility in the Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFZ) in Nigeria, positioning itself to capitalise on one of West Africa’s fastest-growing markets.
“The Lagos Free Trade Zone offers a unique opportunity for businesses to thrive, with its strategic location, world-class infrastructure, and favourable business environment,” said Segun Oyinloye, Marketing Communications Manager at ADM.
“ADM’s facility is designed to take full advantage of these benefits, providing a hub for innovation, collaboration, and growth with next-generation thinking.”
ADM’s Nigerian operations include a premix manufacturing plant in Lagos and a distribution network spanning three regional centres. The company supplies premixes, additives, and ingredients to a broad range of animal feed producers.
In addition to its growing footprint in South Africa and Nigeria, ADM also expanded its East African operations in 2024 with the opening of a new office and advanced laboratories in Nairobi, Kenya.
These facilities are focused on driving innovation in food, beverage, and animal nutrition, with an emphasis on research and development tailored to local preferences, such as beverages and alternative proteins.
