Wittaya Aqua, Maverick Innovation join forces to fast-track animal feed innovations

Their partnership is aims at helping startups and established companies bring novel feed additives and formulations to market.

GLOBAL – Wittaya Aqua and Maverick Innovation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that could reshape the way new feed solutions enter international markets, aiming to accelerate the commercialisation of feed ingredients for aquaculture and poultry.

The agreement, announced this week, brings together Canada- and Singapore-based data solutions provider Wittaya Aqua and Bangladesh-based agri-innovation firm Maverick Innovation.

Their partnership is aimed at helping startups and established companies bring novel feed additives and formulations to market, particularly for warm-water aquaculture and poultry sectors, two industries experiencing rapid growth.

The collaboration arrives at a critical time. In 2022, global aquafeed production surpassed 50 million metric tonnes, while poultry feed soared to 570 million metric tonnes in 2023.

With projections indicating continued growth through 2030, demand for high-performance nutritional inputs is surging. However, many companies face significant hurdles in validating and commercialising their innovations.

We understand how challenging it can be to bring novel additives to market,” said Evan Hall, CEO of Wittaya Aqua.

This partnership will provide companies with the tools they need, from trial design to regulatory navigation,to ensure their products succeed in real-world aquaculture and poultry systems.

Wittaya Aqua will contribute its deep expertise in data analytics, performance modelling, and precision nutrition, while Maverick Innovation will offer on-the-ground knowledge of regional markets, especially in Bangladesh,a key hub for warm-water aquaculture such as shrimp and tilapia, and a booming poultry industry.

Kabir Chowdhury of Maverick Innovation noted that the partnership is designed to “strengthen clients’ market entry and long-term success,” adding that their combined efforts will offer both technical testing and strategic planning for new products.

Beyond product development, the MOU outlines a roadmap for joint workshops, capacity-building sessions, and industry forums. These events will connect feed ingredient developers, manufacturers, and producers with experts in science, nutrition, and farm management.

The goal is to create an ecosystem that fosters knowledge sharing, technical validation, and practical adoption of new feed solutions.

We aim to bridge the gap between science and practice,” said Dr. Dominique Bureau, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Wittaya Aqua. “We’re not just validating products, we’re building a sustainable innovation pipeline that benefits farmers, animals, and the planet.

By combining their respective strengths,Wittaya’s analytical and nutritional precision with Maverick’s regional access and market intelligence, the partners aim to support the development of effective, sustainable feed solutions that enhance profitability and animal welfare across the global aquaculture and poultry sectors.
