Silos Córdoba assembles new silo plant in Dubai

This development will enable precise blending of different grains for feed milling operations.

UAE – Silos Córdoba, a well-known name in the metal silos manufacturing industry, has commenced the assembly of a new silo plant at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The facility comprises four hopper silos, two with a capacity of 240 m³ each and two with 380 m³ each, strategically installed between existing concrete silos.

This development aims to enhance grain handling capabilities by managing residual grain from existing silos and enabling precise blending of different grains for feed milling operations.

The integration of variable frequency drives (VFDs) and a SCADA system, supplied by Silos Córdoba, ensures efficient and centralized control of the operations.

The development comes after the silo manufacture, in September 2024, announced its comeback in the market with renewed vigour after its operational closure in February 2023, transforming under new ownership.

In an official statement, Silos Córdoba expressed its renewed commitment to providing the same quality solutions that had previously made it a global leader.

“Following the cessation of operations of Silos Córdoba SL in February 2023, we renew our commitment to maintaining the legacy of quality and leadership that has established us as a global benchmark in the metal silos sector,” the company said.

Notably, the acquisition has enabled a portion of Silos Córdoba’s original team to continue with the new company, ensuring that over 45 years of accumulated expertise remain intact.

By enhancing grain storage and processing capabilities, the project contributes to the country’s efforts to ensure sustainable food resources and reinforces Dubai’s position as a central player in the global agricultural trade network.

Jebel Ali Port, recognised as the world’s largest artificial harbour and the Middle East’s most significant port, handles approximately 73% of the UAE’s food and beverage trade by value.

The port’s strategic location and advanced infrastructure make it a pivotal hub for global trade and logistics.

This initiative aligns with the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051 and complements other significant projects at Jebel Ali Port, such as DP World’s AED 550 million (US$150 million) Agri Terminals facility.

The Agri Terminals, developed in partnership with Adroit Overseas Canada and Al Amir Foods, are set to become Dubai’s largest multi-tenant facility for integrated agricultural processing and silo storage, with a total storage capacity of 200,000 metric tonnes and processing capabilities of up to 500,000 metric tonnes annually.

The addition of Silos Córdoba’s new silo plant further strengthens the port’s role in bolstering food security and supporting the UAE’s vision for a resilient and diversified food supply chain.
