Kormotech’s is seeking to deepen its reach in the MEA region, where pet ownership is rising and consumers are becoming increasingly health-conscious about their pets.
QATAR AND NIGERIA – Kormotech Group of Companies has entered the pet food markets of Qatar and Nigeria, marking a strategic milestone in its expansion across the Middle East and Africa.
The move pushes the Ukrainian-rooted manufacturer’s presence to 46 countries worldwide, reinforcing its position among the top 50 global pet food producers.
In Qatar, Kormotech is introducing its Club 4 Paws cat food, while in Nigeria, both cat and dog food under the same brand will be available in pet stores.
“Compared to developed markets, the competition in Qatar and Nigeria is lower, but these markets are growing rapidly,” said Mykola Deviatov, Head of Strategic Business Unit 3 – South-Eastern Europe, Central Asia & Middle East.
Kormotech’s latest expansion is part of a broader strategy to deepen its reach in the MEA region, where pet ownership is rising and consumers are becoming increasingly health-conscious about their pets.
The market is projected to grow from US$5.39 billion in 2023 to US$6.46 billion by 2028, driven by a strong CAGR of 4.32% and rising demand for premium products.
Kormotech has tailored its product offerings to local preferences before launching to meet these expectations.
The company expanded its flavor range, particularly with chicken, lamb, and fish, and focused on natural ingredients, vitamins, and functional additives, which are highly valued by pet owners in the region.
“Local consumers tend to trust established manufacturers, but they are also open to new brands that offer a balanced composition at an affordable price,” Deviatov explained. “Kormotech’s products meet these expectations.”
The company currently supplies around 1,065 tons of pet food annually to the MEA region and plans to increase this volume as demand grows gradually.
Since entering the region in 2019, Kormotech has rapidly built its presence in Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia. Over the past five years, sales in the region have grown tenfold.
Global pet food leader
Founded in 2003, Kormotech is a family-owned company with production facilities in Ukraine and the EU.
It manufactures over 650 products for cats and dogs under brands such as Optimeal, Delickcious, Miau!, Hav!, and My Love.
The company is a market leader in Ukraine and is among the 21 most dynamic pet food producers globally.
While expanding across MEA, Kormotech is also scaling operations in Europe. Earlier this year, it broke ground on a €60 million (US$63 million) pet food factory in Kėdainiai, Lithuania.
The 19,500-square-meter facility will include production, warehousing, and office space, and is expected to triple the company’s production capacity in the country, from 22,000 to 60,000 tonnes annually.
“Lithuania has proven to be a reliable partner that helps us unlock global market potential,” said Rostyslav Vovk, Chairman of the Board and Co-Owner of Kormotech. “The new factory will significantly contribute to our goal of becoming one of the world’s top 30 pet food manufacturers.”
To further strengthen regional ties and explore new partnerships, Kormotech will showcase its products at PetWorld Arabia 2025, a major B2B exhibition taking place April 19–20 in Dubai, UAE.
The event is expected to draw key players in the MEA pet industry, offering Kormotech another platform to solidify its presence in this high-potential market.
