Vet Konect powers first ever livestock summit in Benue State

With over 1000 registered participants, the summit is expected to be a transformative gathering for livestock stakeholders.

NIGERIA – Benue State is poised to make history with its inaugural Livestock Summit, set for March 21-22, 2025, at the Dreams Event Center in Makurdi, Nigeria.

Organized by Vet Konect Ltd in collaboration with the Poultry Association of Nigeria (Benue State Chapter) and the Association of Private Veterinary Practitioners, the event is backed by the Benue State Government through the Bureau of Livestock Development and Transboundary Animal Diseases Control.

Under the theme “Reimagining the Future of Livestock Production in Nigeria for Economic Growth and Self-Sufficiency,” the summit aims to tackle the sector’s pressing challenges while unlocking new opportunities for innovation and sustainability.

This milestone event—the first of its kind since Benue’s creation in 1976—also marks the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development’s maiden official visit to the state.

With over 1,000 registered participants, the summit is expected to be a transformative gathering for livestock stakeholders.

Livestock production remains a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economy, contributing significantly to food security, employment, and rural development.

However, disease outbreaks, insecurity, climate change, and inadequate veterinary services continue to hamper its growth. The summit will provide a crucial platform for industry players to engage in high-level discussions and devise strategic solutions.

Over two days, the event will feature expert-led panel discussions, keynote addresses from industry thought leaders and targeted breakout sessions.

Topics will include disease control, climate adaptation, agribusiness financing, and policy frameworks aimed at strengthening the sector.

Attendees will also benefit from extensive networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration among farmers, investors, policymakers, and industry leaders.

At the forefront of this initiative is Vet Konect, a digital animal health company dedicated to leveraging technology, data, and community-driven solutions to enhance livestock healthcare.

Through its work in disease surveillance, veterinary services, and strategic partnerships, Vet Konect is playing a pivotal role in fortifying Nigeria’s livestock industry.

We are inviting livestock farmers, veterinarians, policymakers, agribusiness investors, researchers, and the general public to be part of this transformative event. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape the future of livestock production in Benue State and Nigeria at large,” Vet Konect stated in a press release.
