SINGAPORE – Kemin Industries, a global ingredient manufacturer, has introduced PROSIDIUM™, an innovative feed pathogen control solution, at VIV Asia 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand.
This groundbreaking product is designed to enhance biosecurity in animal feed and improve global feed and food safety while maintaining operational efficiency.
Developed after years of extensive research, PROSIDIUM™ is powered by novel peroxy acids (powerful oxidising agents primarily used in disinfectants) and is uniquely formulated to help raw material and feed producers produce clean and safe animal feed.
The patent-pending solution aims to mitigate risks from Salmonella and an array of viruses, addressing a critical challenge in the feed industry while setting a new benchmark for pathogen control.
According to Dr. Chris Nelson, President and CEO of Kemin Industries, as the global population grows, the demand for high-quality animal feed continues to rise, necessitating innovative solutions for the industry’s challenges.
“For decades, the industry has had only two chemical options for managing feed biosecurity—organic acid blends or formaldehyde. PROSIDIUM™ revolutionises this space by combining the strengths of both, offering a powerful antimicrobial solution that redefines feed safety,” Dr. Chris added.
Innovative protection for enhanced feed safety
According to Kemin, the name PROSIDIUM is inspired by the Latin word praesidium, meaning protection or defense.
Its unique mode of action disrupts the cell membranes of pathogens, leading to an immediate reduction in Salmonella risk and viral transmission through animal feed.
Unlike conventional treatments, PROSIDIUM offers residual protection, ensuring feed remains safe throughout storage and handling.
With increasing concerns about feed safety and its impact on livestock health, this next-generation pathogen control solution is expected to drive higher biosecurity standards across the industry.
By reducing pathogen risks, PROSIDIUM supports healthier livestock, improved feed conversion rates, and ultimately, safer animal protein production for human consumption.
“Kemin believes that raising healthy animals is fundamental to food safety and human health,” said Stefaan Van Dyck, Group President, Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health.
“Our commitment to innovation is driven by the need to provide our customers with effective, science-backed solutions that enhance feed safety and contribute to sustainable animal production.”
PROSIDIUM has already received regulatory approval in Brazil and the South Asia region, with additional registrations pending in the Asia-Pacific, South Africa, North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
Kemin’s dedicated application solutions group has developed a specialised delivery system to enhance its application further, ensuring uniform product distribution over feed surfaces.
This turnkey approach enables producers to seamlessly integrate PROSIDIUM into their feed safety protocols while maintaining operational efficiency.
