Kormotech invests US$63M to triple pet food production in Lithuania

LITHUANIA – Kormotech, one of Ukraine’s largest pet food manufacturers and a top 50 global industry player, has officially commenced construction on its second factory in Lithuania.

The groundbreaking ceremony in Kėdainiai marks a significant €60 (approximately US$63) million investment to strengthen the company’s presence in the European market.

The new 19,500-square-meter facility, which will include production, warehousing, and administrative spaces, is set to triple Kormotech’s production capacity in Lithuania.

Once completed, the company will manufacture 61% of its total wet pet food output in Kėdainiai, increasing production from 22,000 to 60,000 tonnes annually.

This is a strategically important step that will allow us to continue expanding in Europe and beyond,” stated Rostyslav Vovk, Chairman of the Board and Co-Owner of Kormotech. “Lithuania has proven to be a reliable partner that helps us unlock global market potential. The new factory will significantly contribute to our goal of becoming one of the world’s top 30 pet food manufacturers.

Vovk highlighted that Kėdainiai’s central location in the Free Economic Zone played a key role in the company’s decision to expand in Lithuania.

The well-developed infrastructure and seamless support from Invest Lithuania and regional authorities enabled a smooth start to construction, reinforcing Kormotech’s confidence in its investment.

Andreea Moraru, Regional Director and Head of Poland and the Baltic States at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), commended Kormotech’s resilience and international growth.

We are honoured to support Kormotech’s expansion, which showcases the strength of Ukrainian businesses despite ongoing challenges. This new plant will further bolster Lithuania’s economy while solidifying Kormotech’s standing in the global pet food market.

Andrii Bereziuk, director of UAB Kormotech, emphasised the company’s commitment to innovation, employee growth, and values-driven operations.

He stated the company’s commitment to upholding the highest global standards while fostering a culture of trust and professional development.

The expansion is set to create 200 new jobs in Lithuania, primarily in production roles such as operators, technicians, electricians, warehouse workers, and administrative positions.

Currently employing 175 people in Lithuania, Kormotech expects recruitment efforts to extend beyond Kėdainiai to Kaunas, Jonava, Panevėžys, and Šiauliai as demand grows.

With Lithuania’s pet food market projected to grow by 3.11% from 2025 to 2030, Kormotech’s investment aligns with increasing consumer demand.

Since 1999, pet food consumption in the country has risen by 3.7% annually, according to data from ReportLinker, reinforcing the strategic importance of this expansion.

By leveraging Lithuania’s advantageous location and business-friendly environment, Kormotech seeks to scale its operations while contributing to the region’s economic growth.

The new factory marks a pivotal moment in the company’s journey toward becoming a global leader in pet food manufacturing.
