FOLIUM Science’s BiomElix® One secures approval in Brazil for poultry feed 

BRAZIL – FOLIUM Science’s innovative feed additive, BiomElix® One, recently gained approval from Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA). 

This inclusion in Brazil’s Positive List of Feed Ingredients marks a significant milestone, offering a cutting-edge solution for managing Salmonella bacteria in poultry while aligning with the global push for antibiotic-free livestock production.  

BiomElix® One is powered by FOLIUM Science’s revolutionary Guided Biotics® platform, a CRISPR-Cas-based technology that selectively targets harmful microbes while preserving beneficial ones.

By enhancing the balance of the gut microbiome, the product improves poultry performance and promotes animal welfare.  

This breakthrough aligns with Brazil’s focus on sustainable agriculture, particularly in reducing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through innovative feed solutions.

Prior to MAPA’s approval, the Brazilian National BioSafety Committee (CTNBio) certified BiomElix® One as non-GMO under its ‘new breeding technique’ framework. 

This endorsement highlights the product’s ability to naturally enhance microbiome pathways without disrupting gut balance, a key advantage in maintaining sustainable livestock farming practices.  

As one of the world’s largest producers of poultry, beef, and pork, Brazil presents a critical market for this innovation.

BiomElix® One is expected to address several challenges in the industry, including improving feed efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and combating AMR. These benefits reinforce Brazil’s leadership in sustainable agriculture.  

With regulatory approval secured, FOLIUM Science plans to collaborate with strategic partners for large-scale field trials across Brazil. These trials aim to validate the product’s efficacy in real-world conditions and further demonstrate its potential to revolutionise animal nutrition.
