GERMANY – Biochem, a leading producer of feed additives, has introduced BetaTrace, an innovative line of organic trace minerals designed to enhance animal health and productivity.
This patent-pending product combines the essential benefits of organic zinc, copper, manganese, and iron with the metabolic power of betaine, creating a unique two-in-one solution.
Suitable for all animal species, BetaTrace improves trace mineral bioavailability, addressing key challenges in modern livestock farming, such as gut integrity, immunity, oxidative stress, and energy metabolism.
“Trace minerals make up a small portion of an animal’s diet but have enormous benefits, while betaine is a metabolic powerhouse,” explained Susanne Rothstein, Product Manager of Organic Minerals at Biochem.
“BetaTrace intensively supports performance and health, particularly for high-yielding and young animals with higher metabolic demands.”
By binding trace minerals to betaine, BetaTrace ensures superior absorption compared to conventional inorganic sources like sulfates.
The product is water-soluble, low-dust, and available in 25 kg and 1,000 kg bags, making it versatile and easy to use in vitamin-mineral premixes, compound feeds, and supplements.
In tandem with the BetaTrace® launch, Biochem has made strides in sustainability by reformulating its RumiPro® Urea to replace palm fat with rapeseed-based fat.
This change addresses growing concerns about the environmental impact of palm oil production and aligns with the company’s commitment to eco-friendly practices.
The reformulated RumiPro Urea maintains its gradual nitrogen release, which is essential for rumen microbes, while eliminating tropical raw materials.
“Several customers have expressed the need to remove palm fat from their feeding programs,” noted Bernhard Landwehr, Senior Nutritionist at Biochem. “Our new formula fulfills this demand while promoting sustainable dairy production.”
Produced in Germany with a short and secure supply chain, the updated RumiPro Urea is GMO-free, reduces reliance on soybean meal, and boasts a lower carbon footprint. Its nutrient density supports balanced diets for dairy cattle by freeing up space for additional energy and fiber.
Founded in 1986 as a feed additive retailer, Biochem has grown into a thriving business that covers the entire feed additive chain, from the thoughtful recommendation of suitable additives for your animal’s health and nutrition to the local sale and distribution of these products.
What was once a small start-up now employs more than 370 skilled people from over 40 nations.
From gut health, mycotoxin management, and nutrient efficiency to immune stimulation, we offer solutions for every species, production segment, and climate zone.
Through the launches of BetaTrace and the reformulated RumiPro Urea, Biochem seeks to continue delivering cutting-edge solutions that support animal welfare and sustainable livestock farming.
