Poland partners Tanzania to modernise poultry industry through training

TANZANIA – Poland, the European Union’s top food producer, is extending its expertise in modern chicken husbandry and meat production to Tanzania to boost its poultry sector.

Recognised for its egg and poultry production advancements, Poland aims to help Tanzania modernise its poultry industry by sharing cutting-edge knowledge and practices that enhance productivity, quality, and profitability.

This collaboration sets the stage for long-term improvements in Tanzania’s poultry sector, with far-reaching implications for the region’s economic growth and food security.

On November 15, 2024, Dar es Salaam hosted a “Innovative Technologies in Poultry Farming and Meat Production” seminar co-organized by the Polish Embassy and the Polish Association for Innovation in Agriculture.

The event attracted many stakeholders, including Tanzanian government officials, poultry farmers, veterinary professionals, and representatives of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (TCCIA).

It offered a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and exploring strategies to advance Tanzania’s poultry industry.

Polish panellists shared insights on transformative technologies and practices pivotal to enhancing productivity in poultry farming.

Key discussions revolved around veterinary care, advanced feed production, farming methodologies, and post-slaughter processes like cooling to ensure meat quality.

Highlighting trends from Poland’s thriving poultry sector, experts demonstrated how Tanzania could adapt these innovations to address local challenges and improve efficiency.

One standout recommendation was the formation of producer groups. Polish specialists emphasised the benefits of collective action, such as pooling resources for transportation and equipment, reducing operational costs, and increasing competitiveness.

This approach appealed to small-scale Tanzanian farmers facing high production expenses, offering a viable path to market success.

The seminar also featured a business-to-business (B2B) session, facilitating direct interactions between Tanzanian and Polish enterprises.

This session provided a platform for Tanzanian business owners to address specific challenges, explore partnership opportunities, and develop tailored solutions.

These exchanges laid the groundwork for potential collaborations to streamline operations and enhance the sector’s overall performance.

Poland’s support aligns with a broader objective to strengthen Tanzania’s agricultural sector through knowledge transfer and innovation.

By introducing practical, modern solutions, Poland seeks to contribute to a robust poultry industry that meets local demand while fostering economic stability and job creation.

This partnership underscores Poland’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Tanzania and promoting technological exchange for mutual benefit.
