NETHERLANDS – Corbion, a leading producer of sustainable ingredients, has announced the appointment of Coen Esser as the new Global Business Director of Animal Nutrition for its Health & Nutrition division.
With over 15 years of experience in global B2B markets, Esser is set to lead the company’s efforts in expanding its algae-based ingredient portfolio, aligning with Corbion’s sustainability-focused mission.
Esser’s prior role as managing director and co-owner of Control Union Vessel Performance Centre saw him offering compliance and performance solutions to shipowners, charterers, and fleet managers.
His career also includes leadership, sales, marketing, and business development roles at Royal Peterson, Control Union, and DSM.
In a statement on LinkedIn, Esser expressed his excitement about the new role: “Corbion’s strong focus on purpose-driven innovation and a robust sustainability agenda resonates deeply with my experience in sustainable agriculture. Contributing to keeping our oceans healthy makes this even more relevant for me.”

New business development managers appointed
This news follows Corbion’s recent announcement of Bart Boomsma’s return to the company, where he will resume his role as Business Development Manager for Animal Nutrition.
Bart had previously worked with the company from 2009 to 2015 as a Technical Marketing Specialist. During his initial tenure at Corbion, Bart developed a deep understanding of the company’s innovative solutions and contributed significantly to various marketing initiatives.
After leaving Corbion, Bart continued to build his career in the animal nutrition sector, taking on technical-commercial roles at Palital Feed Additives and AHV (Animal Health Vision).
In his new role at Corbion, Bart will leverage his extensive knowledge and experience to drive business development in the animal nutrition sector.
He will focus on expanding Corbion’s presence in the pet and livestock markets, working closely with key stakeholders to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of the industry.
Also appointed at the same time as Bart was Lenaïg Richard-Breivik as the new Business Development Manager for Aquaculture.
Lenaïg joins Corbion with 13 years of experience at Skretting, a Nutreco company, where she held key roles in research, product management, marketing, and business development.
Her work involved leading R&D projects for shrimp nutritional solutions, managing global feed products, driving innovation pipelines, and leading strategic growth initiatives in early-life nutrition for fish and shrimp species.
