VIETNAM – The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Vietnam Feed Association (VFA) and the Animal Husbandry Association of Vietnam (AHAV) to bolster the nation’s feed and animal production sectors.
The signing ceremony, which took place on September 12 in Hanoi, established a strategic partnership to foster growth, innovation, and sustainability within Vietnam’s agricultural landscape.
The MOU is designed to create a collaborative framework that leverages the three organisations’ shared expertise and knowledge.
This initiative supports Vietnam’s sustainable development goals in the feed and animal production industries, which are critical to the nation’s agricultural economy.
“After years of working to bring awareness to the Vietnamese animal production and feed industries, this MOU represents our future commitment to fostering growth, innovation and sustainability in the country,” said Gina Tumbarello, AFIA’s Senior Director of Global Strategies, Policy and Trade.
“Together, we can build a more resilient and sustainable feed and animal production industry that meets today’s consumer needs and paves the way for future growth.”
AFIA’s engagement in Vietnam has been significantly supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service Market Access Program.
These efforts have played a crucial role in educating local industry stakeholders about the value of U.S. feed ingredients and best practices for sustainable growth.
The collaboration aims to modernise Vietnam’s feed industry, which accounts for 65% to 70% of livestock product costs.
The MOU intends to enhance consumer confidence in the safety and quality of Vietnamese feed and animal products by promoting best practices.
“There has never been a more critical time for the role of industry associations in Vietnam’s livestock and feed industry than now,” remarked Nguyen Xuan Duong, chair of AHAV, during the signing ceremony.
“This partnership will enable us to face challenges such as disease outbreaks, market fluctuations, and environmental pressures while driving sustainable growth.”
The AFIA, VFA, and AHAV partnership is poised to strengthen Vietnam’s capacity to meet contemporary agricultural challenges while advancing the country’s sustainable development agenda.
Dr. Ninh Thị Len, VFA’s Vice Chairwoman, expressed optimism about the collaboration’s potential to attract more members and enhance recognition from government bodies and feed producers.
