ADM marks a decade in Kenya with new office, laboratories

KENYA – Global food processing giant Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) has opened a new office and state-of-the-art innovation laboratories in Nairobi, Kenya, as part of its strategic expansion in East Africa.

This significant investment coincides with ADM’s 10th anniversary in Kenya, highlighting the company’s growing commitment to the region.

The new facilities will serve as a regional hub for research and development, focusing on beverage and food applications and animal nutrition. This aligns with ADM’s mission to foster sustainable food systems globally.

ADM’s CEO, Juan Luciano, underscored the importance of the expansion, stating that the company is well-positioned to leverage global market opportunities.

Kenya, a growing hub for food technology and agriculture, offers ADM fertile ground for continuing to innovate in areas like plant-based foods and sustainable nutrition.

By tailoring solutions to local needs, ADM hopes to support the development of new, sustainable products that address food security challenges and promote healthier, environmentally friendly alternatives.

A decade of impact and innovation in Kenya

The company’s presence in Kenya has been crucial to its sustainability-focused initiatives, including projects that promote food security, regenerative agriculture, and community engagement.

Since entering Kenya a decade ago, ADM has played an instrumental role in promoting sustainability and community development.

One of ADM’s key initiatives in the region is the Lifesaving Education and Assistance to Farmers (LEAF) project, launched in partnership with Concern Worldwide.

The project tackles malnutrition and hunger in Kenya and Ethiopia by offering immediate and long-term solutions to food insecurity.

LEAF provides training and resources to smallholder farmers, enabling them to improve agricultural practices, enhance yields, and create more resilient farming systems.

Additionally, ADM has been actively promoting regenerative agriculture practices in Kenya, which aim to enhance farm resilience and support sustainable food production.

These practices help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve carbon sequestration, positively impacting the environment while ensuring farmers can maintain productivity in the face of climate change.

As part of its broader commitment to sustainability, ADM’s local initiatives are about business growth, giving back to the community, and fostering long-term social and economic development.
