World Aquaculture 2025 returns to China

CHINA – The World Aquaculture 2025 (WA2025) event will be held in Qingdao, China, from April 24 to 27, 2025, at the Qingdao International Convention Centre.

Organised by the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) and the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute (YSFRI), the event marks a significant return to China since its debut in 2002.

The conference, co-hosted by the China Society of Fisheries (CFS) and supported by key institutions like the National Fisheries Technology Extension Centre (NFTEC) and the Chinese Academy of Fisheries Sciences (CAFS), will focus on the theme “Aquaculture Transformation: Action Towards High Quality and Food Security,” a crucial topic in the current global context.

This theme underscores the industry’s growing commitment to sustainable practices and improving food security through advancements in aquaculture.

Qingdao, known for its solid marine economy and research institutions, is the ideal setting for this high-profile event. As one of China’s most ecologically competitive cities, Qingdao has long been recognised for its contributions to marine science, making it a hub for experts in the field.

WA2025 will provide experts, industry leaders, and researchers a platform to participate in specialised sessions, keynote presentations, and panel discussions.

The exhibition will showcase cutting-edge products and services to transform aquaculture practices globally.

With a growing list of sponsors, including Blue Genetics and Zeigler, the event is poised to foster innovation and collaboration within the global aquaculture community.

Participants are encouraged to submit abstracts by January 31, 2025, with opportunities to engage in networking, forming strategic partnerships, and exploring the latest technological advancements in aquaculture.

For further details, attendees can visit the official WAS website or contact event organizers for sponsorship and participation information.

In other news, Tunisia will host the eagerly anticipated third Annual International Conference and Exposition of the African Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society (AFRAQ2024) from November 19 to 22, 2024.

This year’s “Blue Farming: New Horizons for Economic Growth” event will draw over a thousand participants from across Africa and the globe.

It will emphasise the critical role of aquaculture in fostering economic development on the continent.

Preparations for AFRAQ2024 are in full swing following the signing of a hosting agreement by Tunisia’s National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM) on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries.
