De Heus strengthens presence in Kenya with two new store launches

KENYA – De Heus Kenya, in partnership with Royal Dutch Feeds, has expanded its footprint across the country with two brand-new stores, fully stocked with De Heus concentrates, located at Karara Mois Bridge and Thika Town. 

“Additionally, due to growing demand, we’ve moved into a larger space in Eldoret Town to better serve our customers,” the company announced in a LinkedIn post on 28th August 2024. 

With this expansion, Royal Dutch Feeds now operates 12 stores across Kenya, reaffirming its commitment to empowering the progress of farmers nationwide. 

As part of Royal De Heus, a Dutch family-owned company with over 300 years of experience in milling, De Heus Animal Nutrition is a global leader in producing a comprehensive range of compound feeds, premixes, concentrates, and feed specialties. 

Its customers include small and large farmers, integrations, and dealers, whom the company provides with nutritional concepts that ensure maximum animal health and optimal performance across poultry, pigs, ruminants, and aquaculture.

Progress on Kenyan KES3 billion plant

De Heus has been steadily expanding its presence in Africa, with operations in Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda, South Africa, Ghana, and Ivory Coast. 

Earlier this year, in April, De Heus announced its first dedicated animal feed plant in Kenya, located near Athi River, which is expected to cost the company KES3 billion (approximately US$23 million) by its completion. 

This state-of-the-art facility will produce approximately 200,000 metric tons of animal feed annually, catering to the poultry, ruminants, and swine sectors upon completion. 

The factory, expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2025, will create 250 direct and 1,000 indirect job opportunities, furthering our commitment to sustainable agriculture and livestock management.
