USA – Nulo Pet Food has launched an innovative line of functional jerky treats and dental chews to meet the growing demand for pet products with wellness benefits.
The new product range includes eight jerky treat options for both dogs and cats, as well as three sustainably sourced Yak chews designed to enhance dental health.
Recognising the increasing consumer focus on wellness, Nulo has formulated these treats for pet parents who prioritise their pets’ health.
According to Heather Mendoza, Director of Research & Development at Nulo, the company aims to address the rising interest in functional foods, as more consumers are willing to pay a premium for health benefits products.
This trend is supported by Nielsen IQ data, which indicates that 75% of consumers are actively seeking out functional health benefits and added protein in their purchases.
The jerky treats, crafted for various health needs, are cold-formed and oven-baked at low temperatures to preserve their nutritional value.
The dog treats are tailored for skin and coat health, heart health, mobility, gut health, and puppy development.
For cats, the options focus on skin and coat health, heart health, and kitten development. Each treat is made with 80% premium meats combined with ingredients like dried honey, coconut, fish oils, and the BC30 probiotic, ensuring they are both nutritious and easy to consume.
In addition to the jerky treats, Nulo has introduced dental chews made from a custom blend of Yak and cow’s milk.
These chews are rich in protein, calcium, and essential fatty acids, making them a nutritious option for dogs’ dental health.
The dental chews are particularly timely as the dog treat market has shown signs of slowing. Nulo aims to reinvigorate the category by capitalizing on the wellness trend.
Nulo’s new products will be showcased at SuperZoo in Las Vegas, where they will be available for ordering and delivery starting in August.
The company hopes to capture the growing interest in wellness by offering science-backed ingredients that promote pet health across all life stages.
As Michael Landa, founder and CEO of Nulo, stated, the company is committed to helping pets and their owners live healthier lives together.
