USA – Alphia, a leading pet food co-manufacturer of super-premium pet food in the U.S., has named John Bear its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
With over 30 years of experience in pet care manufacturing, Bear will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, including developing and implementing operational strategies to enhance efficiency and achieve business goals.
Bear joins Alphia following a distinguished career at Nestlé Purina, where he held various leadership roles, including Vice President of Quality, Vice President and Director of Manufacturing, and Chief Technical Officer.
His extensive background in factory operations, quality assurance, and manufacturing leadership positions him as a valuable asset to Alphia.
David McLain, CEO and President of Alphia, expressed his confidence in Bear’s ability to contribute to the company’s continued success.

In his new role, Bear aims to streamline business development, foster a community culture, and establish standards and routines to improve operational efficiency and maintain high product quality.
Reporting directly to McLain, Bear expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “I am looking forward to collaborating with the fantastic team at Alphia as we come together to fulfil our mission of providing high-quality food to pets. Alphia’s mission resonates deeply with me, and I am committed to bringing my expertise to support this team’s success.”
Bear’s appointment is expected to bolster Alphia’s leadership team as the company solidifies its position in the pet food manufacturing industry.
New executives strengthen leadership team
In April earlier this year, Alphia appointed Cade Culver as Chief Growth and Transformation Officer and Jack Reid as Chief People Officer.
In these roles, Cade will be responsible for driving business growth and implementing transformative strategies within the company and Jack will play a critical role in fostering a positive workplace culture and shaping the Alphia team.
