VIETMAN – De Heus, a Dutch supplier of nutritional products for the feed industry, has officially launched its new marine R&D facility at the Vinh Long Aqua Research and Development (R&D) Center in Vietnam.
This significant milestone underscores De Heus’ ongoing commitment to advancing nutritional concepts and sustainable formulations, reinforcing its position as a leader in aqua nutrition innovation.
Situated on a 5.5-hectare R&D aqua farm in Vinh Long Province, De Heus has introduced two advanced systems to develop nutritional innovations for crustaceans and marine species, including Asian sea bass.
This investment aims to enhance the company’s global expertise in aqua farming and deliver top-tier nutritional solutions to its shrimp and marine fish customers worldwide.
At the inauguration ceremony, Koen de Heus, CEO of De Heus Animal Nutrition, commended the Vietnamese and global R&D teams for their contributions to the new facility’s design, construction, and testing.
“This new facility will enhance our global expertise in aqua farming, benefiting our shrimp and marine fish customers. The aqua R&D team in Vietnam supports our business worldwide with their expertise and trials,” he stated.
Johan van den Ban, General Director of De Heus Vietnam, highlighted the company’s dedication to the Vietnamese shrimp industry.
“At De Heus, we are ready to develop the Vietnamese shrimp industry further. This investment again shows our commitment towards our customers in Vietnam and beyond,” he emphasized.
Dr. Alexandros Samartzis, Nutrition and Support Director Asia, expressed his enthusiasm for the new extension of the aqua R&D farm.
He invited valued customers and partners to visit the facility and engage in discussions on creating optimal and sustainable nutritional solutions.
Dr. Dylan Tien, Head of Global Aquaculture R&D, expressed confidence in the impact of this strategic investment.
“With this strategic investment and our experienced research team, we are confident that the Aquaculture R&D Center will provide comprehensive nutritional solutions and add new value, contributing to the success of aquaculture farmers in Vietnam and globally,” he affirmed.
In related news, De Heus Animal Nutrition broke ground for constructing a KES 3 billion (US$26M) state-of-the-art livestock feed factory in Athi River, Machakos County.
According to the feed company, construction work on the factory will be completed in the second half of 2025, paving the way for commercial operations to commence.
Once operational, the plant will produce an estimated 200,000 Metric Tonnes of Animal feeds targeted at the regional Poultry, Swine, Aqua and Ruminant sectors while creating upwards of 1000 direct and indirect jobs across the animal feeds and related value chains.
